Library Electronic Resource Policies
Databases and electronic journals are for academic research by current authorized Illinois Institute of Technology faculty, students, and staff. Note that some resources may be limited to the Downtown Campus only, Chicago-Kent users only, or the Stuart School of Business graduate program only.

NOTE: The use of these online resources is governed by copyright law and by the terms of license agreements between IIT and the database and journal publishers. Downloading entire collections of data, entire issues of a journal, or proceedings of an entire conference violates both copyright law and IIT's license agreements with publishers.
Permitted Uses
- Searching the content of the online service. This includes searching, viewing, and browsing tables of contents, full text articles, bibliographic information, and other data.
- Downloading, saving, and printing limited data or articles for personal, academic use only.
Prohibited Uses
- Any commercial use.
- Any personal, non-academic use.
- Any systematic or substantial reproduction of the information provided in the database or electronic journal.
- Creation of derivative works.
- Any alteration, modification, or repackaging of the information contents in the database or electronic journal, including creating a searchable archive.
- Any distribution of the information contents of the online service, or material downloaded from the online service, in any form.
Prohibited Actions
- Adding, removing, or modifying identifying network header information (a.k.a. "spoofing").
- Attempting to impersonate any person by using forged headers or other identifying information.
- Using any program, script, command, or messages of any kind which are designed to interfere with any other user's session (i.e., proxy hunters, spiders, robots are not permitted).
- Removing, modifying, or obscuring copyright notices or other notices and disclaimers.
- Facilitating use or access by non-authorized users, including sharing your password or other login information with anyone.
Enforcement
Unauthorized use of or access to these online services may violate IIT Computer and Network Use Policies and can result in individuals losing access to these online services and/or to IIT's network, together with any applicable legal prosecution.
As with all violations of Library and IIT policies, students who persist in breaking these rules may be referred to their academic dean for appropriate disciplinary action. Continued or repeated misuse of an online service may result in the loss of access to the entire IIT community.
